The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from S13. The alias of Justin Mikulskis, S13 is a DJ, curator, promoter, journalist and the mastermind behind the acclaimed experimental music and art journal secretthirteen.org. S13 has been DJing for well over a decade and his mixes series and journal has been very influential on The Brvtalist as well. We are ecstatic to host a mix by him which focuses on fast crossfading between tracks/sample cuts. The goal is show just how vast rhythmic music can be and the mix includes new and classic material.

The Brvtalist is proud to present a mix from Distant. This epic, near three hour opening set was recorded live in July at Fruta Club in Córdoba, Argentina for TERRA FURIA x Movida Electronica Cordoba. The night also presented MindTrip label boss Pfriter. With releases on labels like Khemia and Detriti, Distant is an exciting young DJ/producer who seeks to explore multiple genres and promote various shades of techno and more in his home city and throughout Argentina.

Kontravoid - New Album + Video Premiere

The Brvtalist is proud to premiere a new video from Kontravoid. “Turn Away” is the first single off the forthcoming album, Too Deep, out September 19th on Fleisch. Over the last several years, Kontravoid has emerged as one of the most important figures across the EBM, synth-pop and wave spectrums. TOTAL SOLIDARITY - A Benefit Compilation for Grassroots LGBTQIA+ Organizations in Poland

One cannot ignore the extreme hatred that is currently permeating the globe. Even in 2019, humans are still being discriminated against for their beliefs, race, identity and just about anything else and often times governments are advocating these prejudices. While we cannot always change the political landscape, music can certainly help shift the tides and provide assistance to those in need. That’s why Polish collective Oramics so important. In addition to having an amazing roster of artists (a couple of which we’ve featured recently - Mala Herba & FOQL) they engage in grassroots activism and support LGBTQIA+ groups in Poland and beyond.

The collective’s latest release is TOTAL SOLIDARITY - a massive compilation organized in collaboration with New York Haunted. The comp features a total of 121(!) tracks and spans a variety of electronic genres and features international headliners, emerging talent, local heroes and much more. All proceeds from the digital sales will support Polish queer organizations: Kampania Przeciw Homofobii and Miłość Nie Wyklucza, who monitor homophobia, provide all kind of support for queer people and have agreed to help redistribute the proceeds throughout LGBTQIA+ organizations in smaller cities and towns of Poland, who need them the most.

From Oramics:

In recent years, we have observed an evolving campaign of homophobia run by the right-wing Polish government, spread by the government media and fueled by the Catholic Church. We have heard that the LGBTQIA+ community is a plague, a dangerous ideology, a threat to morality and Polish culture and should be fought with fire. These words caused an eruption of violence, e.g. recent pogrom-like attacks on a Pride march in Białystok and targeting queer people on the streets as well as their allies wearing rainbow symbols. This atmosphere of disrespect, violence and hate leads many Polish queer people to depression, migration or even suicide.
The electronic music scene in Poland has recently taken a stand and many initiatives, festivals, collectives and clubs declared their solidarity and support. We want to take it further and do what we do best: share our passion for music and creating spaces where we can all feel free and at home. Music, art and the club scene are all parts of culture which is not and cannot be indifferent to historical and social turmoils or political oppression. Quite the contrary, it has always been the voice of resistance. Club culture is something more than hedonistic sounds letting you forget about your everyday life, it is something more than a way to make money - it is a tool that can help other people. Apart from the fundraiser party at Jasna 1 on August 9th 2019, we present you with the compilation “TOTAL SOLIDARITY” created thanks to the cooperation of Oramics collective and the person behind New York Haunted label - Drvg Cvltvre. All proceeds from the digital sales will support Polish queer organizations: Kampania Przeciw Homofobii and Miłość Nie Wyklucza, who monitor homophobia, provide all kind of support for queer people and have agreed to help us redistribute the proceeds throughout LGBTQIA+ organizations in smaller cities and towns of Poland, who need them the most. It took us less than a week to collect more than 100 tracks from all kinds of electronic music genres, from various different producers from far and near who wish to support the queer community in Poland. Once again we want to pay respect to the roots of club culture in queer, people of color, anti-gentrification, anti-state oppression struggle. We want to say, sing and bang it out loud: Queer rights are human rights. We’re in this together.

New Brvtalism No. 194 - Diasiva (*Live in Berlin)

The Brvtalist is proud to present a live set from Diasiva. The collaborative project of Monolog and Swarm Intelligence, the duo was formed in 2011 for the first edition of Burn The Machine Festival in Subland, Berlin. Since then they have released a double LP on Ohm Resistance and recently released the "Thirst" EP on Instruments of Discipline. This set was recorded on June 30, 2019 at the IOD label night at Urban Spree Berlin. It perfectly represents the project’s evolved sound of sonic abstraction, deconstructed beat and is inspired by the detritus of West Berlin.

Krake Recap + Killekill Summer Camp: Altar of Nyx

The 2019 edition of Krake Festival has sadly come to an end. With over 5 days of challenging electronic music, the festival continues to prove that it is one of the most vital events of the local Berlin community as well as that of Europe and beyond. Few other festivals take place in such a diverse array of venues and present an astounding variation of sounds, genres and other activities such as film screenings, a label market and more. This year’s festivities opened in the beautiful Silent Green Kulturquartier. Crowd favorites Cio D’or and Dasha Rush presented meditative ambient sets for onlookers relaxing in the venue’s striking interior.

Day II saw things move to Griessmüehle for the first ever Noise Manifesto showcase. The Paula Temple curated line up featured all female identifying artists and saw electrifying sets from SØS Gunver Ryberg, Paula herself and The Lady Machine (who also contributed a great mix for us to get ready for the night). Day III aka Undertow was jam packed as things first started with the annual Krake Label and Synth Market which hosted dozens of today’s best independent labels and raffled off some amazing items as well. After a screening of the Mark Reeder classic, “B Movie”, things moved inside to Urban Spree where a full house witnessed standout sets from Petra Flurr + 89st, Schwefelgelb, The Horrorist, Melania. and more. It was a sweaty affair but the music carried you through the whole night.

The festival closed things out on Saturday with a marathon session back at Griessmüehle, which saw nearly two days worth of music from Dopplereffekt, Otto Von Schirach, Regis, Alienata, Jasmine Azarian and countless more. From the Silo, to the main room to the garden, it was madness throughout the grounds and the perfect way to end the festival.

ALTAR OF NYX
While Krake festival may have come to an end luckily Killekill Summer Camp is still going strong. Each summer the event series takes place every Wednesday at Griessmüehle and hosts some of the best names in electronic music. This Wednesday, August 14th, the next Altar of Nyx ritual will commence. Curated by Altar Agency, this installment brings a very rare live performance by prolific Greek artist Restive Plaggona. The somewhat reclusive producer has released some of the most exciting music over the past few years spanning multiple genres and shattering the constraints of club and techno. For more on the project, revisit this interview we had with the artist last year here.

In addition to Restive Plaggona, the night will also feature DJ sets by Zhark Recordings label boss Kareem, head priestess Rangelova and a very special closing by The Brvtalist b2b Philipp Strobel (aka The Strobelist). The Berlin-based duo, originally from Tel Aviv, have established themselves across multiple continents for their raw and diverse sound - pulling from techno, house, electro, new wave, italo and more. With releases on their own label, Parallax, as well as L.I.E.S. and Veyl, the pair also have forthcoming work on Dark Entries, BANK and more. New Brvtalism No. 193 is a massive mix filled with the duo's filthy, infectious sound.

TWINS - "Wicked Game" Video Premiere

The Brvtalist is proud to premiere a new video from TWINS. The creative alter ego of Atlanta-based artist Matt Weiner releases his rendition of Chris Isaak’s 1989 track which forgets the epic slide guitar, speeds it up by about 10 bpm, and gives a whole new wave vibe to the 80s classic. The song has been in our heads ever since the first listen and the DIY video is just as mesmerizing. “Wicked Game” has been one of my favorite songs since I first saw the steamy music video on MTV as a young kid. I haven’t recorded any covers as TWINS but after doing a bunch of karaoke with friends over the past year or two I’ve started to think about certain songs in a way that inspired me to filter them through my own imagination.

New Brvtalism No. 192 - Tullia Benedicta (*Live at Simposio)

The Brvtalist is proud to present a live set from Tullia Benedicta. The Bologna-based, Italian multidisciplinary producer and vocalist began her solo career around 2013 in London. Her experimental electronic works were noticed by Glen Johnson (Piano Music) who released her debut debut album, Anteros, on Second Language Music (UK) in 2015. The album was a collaboration between Tullia and Jerome Tcherneyan (Years of Denial, Piano Magic). The encounter with Jerome was a crucial point to Tullia’s career that built a special interest for Techno, Noise and the club scene.

After 3 years in London, she established herself in Bologna, and in November 2018, Black Chrysalis Archives (IT) released her second album Prometeo, an 8-track LP produced across London/Bologna and mixed in London still with Jerome Tcherneyan (2015-2017). The album is a more intimate space of experiments with special influences by mystical themes such as Jodorowsky’s Psychomagic. In June 2019 Black Chrysalis Archives released a 4-track vinyl with remixes of Prometeo by Samuel Kerridge, Tapefeed, Years of Denial and Fire at Work.

New Brvtalism No. 192 is a powerful set which traverses Benedicta’s varied influences and a vast area of moods, textures and rhythms. The set, which was recorded in early July at Simposio contains new and unreleased material as well as tracks from the Prometeo release.
