The Brvtalist Premieres: Pouch Envy - Sanjin (A003)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere the track "Sanjin" by Pouch Envy. His productions are hard-hitting and straightforward club tunes marked by his meditative touch. They strike a refined balance between the sexy and the thought-provoking while displaying his professional grasp on contemporary production techniques.

North American Amusement is Pouch Envy's debut EP, the first installment of his conceptual take on club and rave culture. Three original tracks inspired by New York’s rising rave scene and the sensation that lingers in your body after returning home from the club. A distinct state of consciousness in which most of the tracks on this EP were produced.

Barcelona platform Abundance is focused on championing local talent. For this reason, they have chosen three Barcelona based remixers for this release.

The release is out digitally December 4th on Bandcamp.

New Haunts - Failing Me *Video Premiere*

The Brvtalist is proud to premiere a new video from New Haunts. The Bristol-based artist returns with "Failing Me", a new single and the first look at her upcoming album set to be released in 2021. Like many of us, the artist was holed up in isolation for much of the year and this song represents the bittersweet necessity of inhabiting the human form. Drawing from wave, synth pop, post-punk and more, "Failing Me" is a heartfelt, melancholic piece which shows why New Haunts is one of our favorite artists to watch.

The single is out December 4th (along with some new limited merch) and you can get yours on Bandcamp.

Video directed and filmed by: Alastair Power

Track mixed and mastered by: Marcus Dyer

Video edited and produced by: Alice Sheridan

The Brvtalist Premieres: SNTS - Bacchanalia

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from SNTS. “Bacchanalia” comes off the masked artist’s third full length album, The Unfinished Fight Against Humanity. Following up on 2015’s The Rustling Of The Leaves and 2016’s Losing Sight, one of techno’s most mystifying figures returns with perhaps his most powerful work to date. These 10 tracks draw from references both past and present while also contemplating the effect our actions have on our existence. Much like the current era, we are thrust into chaos and destruction, while clinging to hope and optimism. From the ominous introduction of “An Era Of Absurdity” to the crushing sound of “Empathy over Indifference”, this is perfect soundtrack to a world on fire.

The album is out on 2x12” and digital formats and you can pre-order yours now on Bandcamp.

Ahraam - Human, All Too Human (ABRX)

For the the past year, South Korean imprint ABRX has explored material which exists at the intersection of cinema and electronics. The latest release from the label expands on this concept even further with the debut studio album from Ahraam. Human, All Too Human is 10 tracks of dramatic, multi-textured compositions which weave in and out of genres, moods and atmospheres for a rich sensory experience. The track titles recall famous cultural works and Ahraam masterfully transports the listener into the song’s environments. Today we host, “Unchained”, which is one of our favorites of the album and a rhythmic episode of industrial flares and guitar feedback which makes for a epic journey.

Randstad - Peace Worker (VEYL020)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere the track "Peace Worker" by the dutch artist Randstad, the production and DJ moniker of the multimedia artist Thomas van Linge, co-founder of the record labels BAKK and Rubber and freshly relocated to Berlin. After first hearing his rhythmic drum workout on ‘Metalloid’, his contribution for this year’s ‘Still Life’ compilation, he releases his second EP ‘These Serpents’ for Veyl. Randstad is pushing his idea across the spectrum of industrialized beat music for this outright roaring 6-tracker ideal to tear down clubs when they finally re-open in 2036.

HAF HAF - Bonola (Gang Of Ducks)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from HAF HAF. The artist returns to the Gang of Ducks imprint after 2014’s Notch helped define the sound of the label. Now the artist is set to release, Pattern In Chaos, an 8 track release which finds the artist in top form, traversing a diverse array of sounds, genres and atmospheres. The title sums up the release perfectly as it definitely feels chaotic at times but there’s always a common denominator and a thread that runs through the release.

Today we premiere the great track “Bonola” and to mark the release we also present a short interview with Gang Of Ducks - the Italian art collective that consists of musicians, visual artists and more. We talk about the label, working through the pandemic and beyond. (see below)

You can pick up Pattern In Chaos on 12” and digital formats. Out November 27th on Bandcamp.

-JRS

The Brvtalist: Gang of Ducks is a multi-disciplinary collective of musicians, visual artists and more. Tell us about the collective’s aim or focus with the record label?

Gang Of Ducks: Gang was born in 2013 as a platform/hub conveying the interests of the members of the collective. We wanted to focus on producing visual, editorial and music contents. Our first output came to life through the production of a vinyl ep and we realised this would be the perfect way for us to mix the production of music, artwork, video, press, live events. So we started focusing on the record production, keeping at the same time our interests towards other medias and ways of publishing alive through the creation of a series of ‘zines’ which we really enjoy. It’s highly possible that this editorial work will develop further in the future.

TB: So much of the output is diverse and undefinable (in a great way). What do you look for when decided on a release?

GOD: When we work on a release we search for a connection with the artist, we prefer to meet in person, to find a link with the territory or through shared experiences. Although this is not always possible, we feel that for us it’s a very important part of the process.

TB: Tell us a little about the HAF HAF release. “Pattern In Chaos” is such a fitting name. The release seems to follow no formula but yet there is still some order. What are you favorite parts about it?

GOD: Haf Haf has always been one of the most representative artists of the sound of the label. His music is able to communicate several feelings and emotions at once, it can be raw and sharp as well as extremely sweet and sensual, without ever following a trend. Haf Haf is a very definite tangent working through a chaotic environment.

TB: How has Gang of Ducks been operating during the pandemic? How has some of your work styles changed?

GOD: During the pandemic not many things have changed, we’ve kept on working on the web. The only repercussion is not being able to step to phase 2, the meeting, gatherings and human dimension.

TB: What’s coming up next?

GOD: We’re working on a really interesting record created by an artist from Turin called Sara, it will be a debut. We’re also working on some new tracks from Regno Maggiore, alongside other new projects which is too soon now to spoil.
