The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from HAF HAF. The artist returns to the Gang of Ducks imprint after 2014’s Notch helped define the sound of the label. Now the artist is set to release, Pattern In Chaos, an 8 track release which finds the artist in top form, traversing a diverse array of sounds, genres and atmospheres. The title sums up the release perfectly as it definitely feels chaotic at times but there’s always a common denominator and a thread that runs through the release.
Today we premiere the great track “Bonola” and to mark the release we also present a short interview with Gang Of Ducks - the Italian art collective that consists of musicians, visual artists and more. We talk about the label, working through the pandemic and beyond. (see below)
You can pick up Pattern In Chaos on 12” and digital formats. Out November 27th on Bandcamp.

The Brvtalist: Gang of Ducks is a multi-disciplinary collective of musicians, visual artists and more. Tell us about the collective’s aim or focus with the record label?
Gang Of Ducks: Gang was born in 2013 as a platform/hub conveying the interests of the members of the collective. We wanted to focus on producing visual, editorial and music contents. Our first output came to life through the production of a vinyl ep and we realised this would be the perfect way for us to mix the production of music, artwork, video, press, live events. So we started focusing on the record production, keeping at the same time our interests towards other medias and ways of publishing alive through the creation of a series of ‘zines’ which we really enjoy. It’s highly possible that this editorial work will develop further in the future.
TB: So much of the output is diverse and undefinable (in a great way). What do you look for when decided on a release?
GOD: When we work on a release we search for a connection with the artist, we prefer to meet in person, to find a link with the territory or through shared experiences. Although this is not always possible, we feel that for us it’s a very important part of the process.
TB: Tell us a little about the HAF HAF release. “Pattern In Chaos” is such a fitting name. The release seems to follow no formula but yet there is still some order. What are you favorite parts about it?
GOD: Haf Haf has always been one of the most representative artists of the sound of the label. His music is able to communicate several feelings and emotions at once, it can be raw and sharp as well as extremely sweet and sensual, without ever following a trend. Haf Haf is a very definite tangent working through a chaotic environment.
TB: How has Gang of Ducks been operating during the pandemic? How has some of your work styles changed?
GOD: During the pandemic not many things have changed, we’ve kept on working on the web. The only repercussion is not being able to step to phase 2, the meeting, gatherings and human dimension.
TB: What’s coming up next?
GOD: We’re working on a really interesting record created by an artist from Turin called Sara, it will be a debut. We’re also working on some new tracks from Regno Maggiore, alongside other new projects which is too soon now to spoil.
