New Brvtalism No. 241 - Character Collapse

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Character Collapse. The alias of Alex Hall, he is also the founder of Manchester-based label Natural Sciences which has been a favorite label of ours to watch and is heading into its 50th release soon. This mix captures the North West of England as it heads into another stage of lockdown, bringing together a collection of odd ball post punk jams, Spanish minimal wave, proto-house and upcoming label jams from names that live in the shadows. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we do.

Totvm - K o n t i n u u m *Video Premiere*

The Brvtalist is proud to premiere a new video from Totvm. "K o n t i n u u m" is the first single from the Danish artist’s upcoming sophomore album, following 2019's debut full-length Passage. At first glance the track is a radical departure from former singles, with lyrics in his native Danish tongue and a heavier, almost orchestral, electronic production. However, the signature dramatic songwriting and romanticism of the debut album remains uniquely Totvm. Filmed between Copenhagen and Moscow earlier this year, the video is an eerie yet hypnotic journey through the artist’s enchanting sound.

Available now as a digital single and stay tuned for more information on the album coming this Fall. Pick up K o n t i n u u m now on Bandcamp.

The Definition Of Neorave (Rave Alert Records)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere three tracks off the upcoming compilation, The Definition Of Neorave from Rave Alert Records. The Belgian imprint has been at the forefront of the Neorave sound since the beginning and now the founder X&trick has compiled a 12 track v/a which features some of the best and brightest of the movement. Today we present tracks from VCL, Studio Dondert and Bangbass. Each track represents different elements that make up the neorave sound from VCL’s acid laced “Engergizer” to the hard dance punishment of Studio Dondert’s “Gabber Stanley” to Bangbass’ high tempo “Ether”. We’ve been fans of the label for a while now and this is another great entry to their catalogue.

Out August 6th on digital and vinyl as a Bandcamp exclusive and everywhere else on August 18th. Pre-order yours now at: https://ravealert.bandcamp.com/album/rave06-the-definition-of-neorave

Offermose - Sjælens Ruin *Video Premiere*

The Brvtalist is proud to premiere a new music video from Offermose. The Danish artist returns for his sophomore LP, Stilhedens Tårn, which is the powerful follow up to 2018’s debut album Mørkt Forår (2018, Third Coming, Pomperipossa). Today we present “Sjælens Ruin”, a looming work of dungeon wave and dark ambient synth abstractions which is as menacing as it is poetic. The video, created by Last Oblivion, is an aerial and dreamy descent reminiscent of the best work of the Berlin School.

Stilhedens Tårn looks to be one of the most anticipated releases this fall and it will be out on limied black and blue “Galaxy” vinyl, black vinyl, CD and digital October 16, 2020. Pre-order yours now from Bandcamp through Third Coming and Pomperipossa.

New Brvtalism No. 240 - Red Nailmaker

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Red Nailmaker. The anonymous post-industrial project derives its name from St.Petersburg's steel-rolling factory, a monument of 1930’s constructivism. Following the ethos of the art movement, Red Nailmaker delivers a raw, abstract and mechanical sound. Pushing through a boiling brew of techno, EBM, industrial, rhythmic noise and dub. New Brvtalism No. 240 is an exceptional mix of some of our favorite concepts, themes and sounds.

Meroitic - Every (Fallen Moon Recordings) *Video Premiere*

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new video from Meroitic. “Every” is a track off the recently released EP, jovilabe, out on Fallen Moon Recordings. The alias of Jamondria Harris, an interdisciplinary artist and composer living in Portland, OR, their work uses words, sounds, wires, instruments, textiles & what falls into their hands to engage with blackness, desire, spirit/source, decolonization, fairy tales, & embodiment. Their sound art emerges from deep-listening fluidity between rhythm & source, engendering sonic cartographies woven from samples, feedback, the electromagnetic field of bodies & rooms and both digital and analog synthesizer soundscapes.

The video was created by musician, sound designer, and curator Patricia Wolf and takes us on a fascinating visual journey through abstract forms and transformative states. It is the perfect accompaniment to Meroitic’s hypnotic, ritual-like sound which exudes a quietly powerful message and creates an encapsulating atmosphere. Pick up jovilabe now on Bandcamp.

In addition, as this work features two Portland-based artists, we would like to stand in solidarity with all of those protesting police brutality, racism and hatred of any kind. With Patricia’s help we also updated our Social Justice Resources page to include non-profit links and information for those who want to engage or help more directly in Portland.
