SARRK - 0th

Emerging from the darkest corner, the new cassette release from Los Angeles-based producer SARRK. 0th is a demented trip through the Southern California night in search of a viscous slayer whose whereabouts are unknown. Taking cues from slasher films, synth, wave and even electro, 0th is a bloodcurdling good time.

SARRK - 0th (Young Cubs x Night Rambler, 2017)

Side I begins with "Power of Source", the perfect appetizer of a tension building atmosphere that sets the stage of what's to come. "The Scoundrel" and "Oth" pick up the RPMs with a heart throbbing race through the city streets. Perhaps our favorite track of the record is the seductively slow burning, "Ride The Knife". We were instantly pulled into the smooth delivery and icy feel. Closing out side I is the more aggressive, "Manhunt" that pulverizes the listener until the very end.

"Silence" is another fantastic down shift to start Side II and that leads into another anthemic piece with "In The Street". After the haunting, vocoder laced moods of "From Behind", the tape ends with the chilling "At Large", a stark reminder that he is still out there. 0th delivers on all fronts and the physical copies look great as well. Out April 21st on Young Cubs x Night Rambler Records.

Nostilevo Spring 2017

As we descend into the depths of Spring, we are thankfully greeted with new music from one of our favorite labels, Nostilevo. Three new offerings make for another stellar batch showcasing a variety of sounds across the electronic spectrum.

First up is the minimal precision of Brett Nauke. "Hunting Portraits" is a emotionally driven, bleak narrative through a tortuous journey. Next up is the haunting, cerebral composition, "Disappearing Into Myself". by No Dreams and finally Brvtalist favorite Granite Mask closes out the playlist with the quietly evil, "Scheletro", that pulsates through the veins. The perfect soundtrack for the rites of Spring. All of these are due out on limited cassette and digital April 24th.

Also, if you're in Chicago this coming weekend, do not miss the label's showcase featuring some of the best acts in the genre today. Featuring Craow, Pod Blotz, HOGG, the three artists featured here and more, the collaboration with local party Club Rectvm will be the perfect night. For more information visit the event page and get pre-sale tickets here. *Video flyer by Jonah Lange

Video Premiere: Sirio Gry J - "Agony"

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new video from Sirio Gry J. "Agony" is a grinding, post-industrial undertaking that will leave you buried beneath the tombs. The limited cassette EP is out now on the stellar label, Libur Null Berlin. The video by Svart1 is the perfect visual accompaniment to the pitch black sounds of the artist.

As expected, the Agony cassette is a beautiful, ritual-like object that is broken down into IV acts plus a bonus remix by Italian standout Mace. If you're in Berlin or other select European cities, the Liber Null events are a must attend. Mixing music, art and the occult, they are some of the most unique nights happening today. For more visit Liber Null.

Tom Hall - "Only The Hunted Know" Video Premiere

The Brvtalist is pleased to present a new video from Los Angeles-based artist Tom Hall. "Only The Hunted Know" is one of two compositions off the Australian's latest EP release, Fervor. This digital and MacOS/Windows offering explores the relationship between humans and their environment, specifically how we assimilate into new spaces and cultures. Hall's tracks are beautifully textured works that surround us with a sense of time and place.

Fervor comes with a MacOS/Windows application that reproduces visuals from "Only The Hunted Know" in always different ways. Fervor is out now on France's Elli Records.

New Brvtalism No. 090

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix by Parisian duo Mas. The audiovisual project of Theo Fernandez and Samantha Corti, the two craft awe inspiring works that are both immersive and cinematic. Both sound and visual artists, they create scenarios painted by words, music, images and filmic memories.

Their recent collaboration with the Paris-based label Champ Libre provide them a space to stage the audiovisual stories they have envisioned. This meeting allows the duo to imagine a whole universe, both in terms of sound, images and scenography. The public of Champ Libre, demanding and receptive, encouraged them to go further in the writing of their performances. Each set is a new story.

We are thrilled to have Mas contribute to our series and New Brvtalism No. 090 is a true look inside the mind of the artist.

The duo's most recent performance at Champ Libre was captured and we've been enamored with its splendor since first view of this teaser. We very much look forward to more from this duo.

Nigredo Edition

Commencing the Magnum Opus series of limited vinyl, London's Khemia Records presents a superb 12" that features two of today's top emerging producers. Nigredo Edition is a split release with an eye toward the future with Italy's Vittorio Di Mango and France's I Hate Models. Delivered on pristine, clear vinyl and with striking cover art by Mustafa Sabbagh, Nigredo Edition is the complete package.

The Solar sides begins with "Cyanure Dance" by I Hate Models. A mutated journey through techno, synth and wave, drenched in acid and pulsating with emotion. The Lunar side finds a massive dance floor destroyer with Vittorio Di Mango's "Epilessia", which drills right into you with its relentless snares.

Jose Macabra - London is Dead

For its second release, Berlin's Blacksilk Records gives us Jose Macabra's London is Dead. Originally from Spain, Jose Macabra moved to London to study design at the London College of Communication and there he has been an integral part of London's electronic scene while also showcasing his renown live act across Europe. Primarily known for his "teknoise" and "electronic ritual", Macabra has produced one of his most powerful works yet.

London Is Dead is a journey into the realms of London Life these days. Mainly composed using field recordings, processed vocals and processed acoustic instruments, this 60 minute piece is a striking cycle of life and death. Many of the work's ideas came together while Macabra took part in a collaboration with Vj London and Disenters’ Gallery called "London Is Dead." This is one for those who a appreciate deep, cerebral experimentations and heavy atmospheres.

After last years Golden by Plovdiv, London is Dead is another great release from this upstart label and we look forward to seeing more.

The Brvtalist Premieres: Verset Zero - Suplicium (Huren Remix)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Verset Zero. "Suplicium (Huren Remix)" comes off the upcoming 12", Consilium, the first release from the newly launched Tripalium Corp. main series. Over the last two years the Parisian imprint has released an impressive array of extreme hybrid sounds on sub-labels like Acid Avengers, Trapalium Rave Series and Tripalium Mutant Series. Now these warped minds kick off Tripalium Corp. main series with a focus on destructive industrial, EBM and experimental techno. We were already huge fans of Verset Zero and the 12" features monster remixes from Violet Poison, Blush Response and this gem from Brvtalist favorite, Huren.

Equally as inspired by dark ambient and black metal, Toulouse-based Verset Zero is one of our favorite producers to watch right now. To pre-order the release, visit Bandcamp.
