Tom Hall - "Only The Hunted Know" Video Premiere

The Brvtalist is pleased to present a new video from Los Angeles-based artist Tom Hall. "Only The Hunted Know" is one of two compositions off the Australian's latest EP release, Fervor. This digital and MacOS/Windows offering explores the relationship between humans and their environment, specifically how we assimilate into new spaces and cultures. Hall's tracks are beautifully textured works that surround us with a sense of time and place.

Fervor comes with a MacOS/Windows application that reproduces visuals from "Only The Hunted Know" in always different ways. Fervor is out now on France's Elli Records.

New Brvtalism No. 090

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix by Parisian duo Mas. The audiovisual project of Theo Fernandez and Samantha Corti, the two craft awe inspiring works that are both immersive and cinematic. Both sound and visual artists, they create scenarios painted by words, music, images and filmic memories.

Their recent collaboration with the Paris-based label Champ Libre provide them a space to stage the audiovisual stories they have envisioned. This meeting allows the duo to imagine a whole universe, both in terms of sound, images and scenography. The public of Champ Libre, demanding and receptive, encouraged them to go further in the writing of their performances. Each set is a new story.

We are thrilled to have Mas contribute to our series and New Brvtalism No. 090 is a true look inside the mind of the artist.

The duo's most recent performance at Champ Libre was captured and we've been enamored with its splendor since first view of this teaser. We very much look forward to more from this duo.

Nigredo Edition

Commencing the Magnum Opus series of limited vinyl, London's Khemia Records presents a superb 12" that features two of today's top emerging producers. Nigredo Edition is a split release with an eye toward the future with Italy's Vittorio Di Mango and France's I Hate Models. Delivered on pristine, clear vinyl and with striking cover art by Mustafa Sabbagh, Nigredo Edition is the complete package.

The Solar sides begins with "Cyanure Dance" by I Hate Models. A mutated journey through techno, synth and wave, drenched in acid and pulsating with emotion. The Lunar side finds a massive dance floor destroyer with Vittorio Di Mango's "Epilessia", which drills right into you with its relentless snares.

Khemia Records continues to impress and Nigredo Edition has instantly become a must listen. The 12" is limited to 333 copies and will ship out on or around April 7th.

Jose Macabra - London is Dead

For its second release, Berlin's Blacksilk Records gives us Jose Macabra's London is Dead. Originally from Spain, Jose Macabra moved to London to study design at the London College of Communication and there he has been an integral part of London's electronic scene while also showcasing his renown live act across Europe. Primarily known for his "teknoise" and "electronic ritual", Macabra has produced one of his most powerful works yet.

London Is Dead is a journey into the realms of London Life these days. Mainly composed using field recordings, processed vocals and processed acoustic instruments, this 60 minute piece is a striking cycle of life and death. Many of the work's ideas came together while Macabra took part in a collaboration with Vj London and Disenters’ Gallery called "London Is Dead." This is one for those who a appreciate deep, cerebral experimentations and heavy atmospheres.

After last years Golden by Plovdiv, London is Dead is another great release from this upstart label and we look forward to seeing more.

The Brvtalist Premieres: Verset Zero - Suplicium (Huren Remix)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Verset Zero. "Suplicium (Huren Remix)" comes off the upcoming 12", Consilium, the first release from the newly launched Tripalium Corp. main series. Over the last two years the Parisian imprint has released an impressive array of extreme hybrid sounds on sub-labels like Acid Avengers, Trapalium Rave Series and Tripalium Mutant Series. Now these warped minds kick off Tripalium Corp. main series with a focus on destructive industrial, EBM and experimental techno. We were already huge fans of Verset Zero and the 12" features monster remixes from Violet Poison, Blush Response and this gem from Brvtalist favorite, Huren.

Equally as inspired by dark ambient and black metal, Toulouse-based Verset Zero is one of our favorite producers to watch right now. To pre-order the release, visit Bandcamp.

Sleep Clinic - A Counterpoint To The Geometric Lattices of Reality

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Sleep Clinic. On the heels of the artist's latest release, Stray Light I + II, out now on Total Black, this mix is a deep, twisting odyssey that showcases the bloodline of the some of the best new material in electronic music. From the artist:

This 4 hour mix is an extension and supplement to showcase Total Black's most recent batch of releases, including bonus material from Stray Light, and also an extension of the moods and atmospheres of the topography of the future as I have sensed it for most of my life.

I have always been fascinated by this topic [Stray Light] and its definition, and its (dis)function. This subtle kind of ghostly presence that is injecting havoc on data and perception. Stray light is a phenomenon which occurs in natural and artificial optical systems where light has deviated from its source. It's an unintended, eerie artifact, an error of sorts that can disrupt the design of a given system in many ways. This light that has gone astray, wandered, floated away into new pathways, in a sense becoming a new source separate from its original source, can be measured with software, the measurements translated into new data, the new data interpreted into data of adjustment and correction...that new data can theoretically be transformed into synthesized audio information. In other words, light turned into sound: visual-audio alchemy.

The poetic, surreal, paradoxical quality of this idea of light slithering, flowing away like water, like fog, hovering beyond its original design source as if it were a curious animal or a ghost who has grown tired of haunting its previous domain as well as the notion of alchemically transmuting light into sound through data processing, has many profound, imagination exploding possibilities. If this light can be processed into data, the data into synthesized sound, what if fictional, imaginary instruments could then be constructed via this synthesis? What would this orchestra, this ensemble of digitized ghost light sound like? Would the compositions culled from the digital ghost light create new pathways, possibilities of deviation in the mind of the listener? Could this create "stray sound" in the imagination of the listener, independent from its source, just as the ghost of stray light wandered from its source and became new data to be turned into sound in the computer?

This was the creative catalyst of my new double album, Stray Light. Data was gathered from stray light measurements, and this data was then, through synthesis and sound design, turned into patches (individual sounds) to be programed, arranged, sequenced and played back through the Elektron Analog4, an instrument perfectly suited for improvisational synth work. The effect of these improvised compositions yielded interesting, bizarre results. The ultra technical conceptual impetus of Stray Light lies in the heavy esoterica of math and engineering, but the manipulation and playfulness of the process of composing music with the synthesized data is more like drawing, painting, or sculpting. The resulting compositions are auditory daydreams, sonic ghosts liberated from their old cobwebs and shadows, eerie chamber music heard in the background while gazing into alien crystal balls, or abstract Muzak for corridors and waiting rooms in cities of the far future whose inhabitants aren't sure if they're light that has gone astray, ghosts set free to haunt new places, or both.

Francisco Meirino and Miguel A. García - Nonmenabsorbium

The Brvtalist is pleased to present the full album premiere of Nonmenabsorbium. Prolific Swiss electronic composer Francisco Meirino and Basque country's prominent Miguel A. García, team up for a raw, intense journey of electronic experimentation. Out now on Brussels' Idiosyncratics, this is a five track release of modular synth, field recordings and magnetic fields crafted by two experts of the genre.

Active since 1994 (as phroq until 2009), Francisco Meirino explores the tension between programmable material and the potential for its failure. Recording what is not supposed to be, Meirino captures uninhbitied authenticity which creates a radical new context. Miguel A. García (aka Xedh) comes from the Basque country and is revered as one of the most dynamic figures of the Spanish scene. His work focuses mainly on composition and electro-acoustic improvisation. García uses sounds from device residues and fuses them with field recordings or acoustic instruments, in the search of an intimate, intense and immersive experience.

Nonmenabsorbium is a cerebral work of powerful compositions that combine technical prowess with haunting intrigue.

Fatt-Grabbers Spring 2017

Out from the shadows of a sun-drenched California nightmare, comes a new batch of tapes from L.A.'s Fatt-Grabbers. This subversive imprint continues to impress with four new tapes from local electronic and experimental talent that will certainly please both the eyes and ears.

Bana Haffar / Rodent (FG017)

FG017 is a stellar split from Bana Haffar and Rodent. Haffars electro-ambient fuses nicely with Rodent's melancholy soundscapes.

Moment Trigger (FG018)

One of our favorite L.A. duos is back with four explosive tracks of noisy techno and electronic disruptions. Great modular sounds from a live favorite as well.

Strangeland (FG019)

We could not be more excited to see new material from the one and only Strangeland. Two long form compositions make up an acid-laced journey of rhythmic experimentations. Take the ride.

Wade Blazer (FG020)

Rounding out the batch is a six track offering from Wade Blazer. This is the perfect trip down from the chaos to a fresh, warped world.

Pick these up now on Bandcamp.  Also be sure to catch Stranger #4 on April 25th at La Cita. For more visit the label's website.

NX1 010

From the depths of Barcelona, comes the next release from enigmatic duo, NX1. The project of Surit and Samot, NX1 is both artist and sub-label of the forthcoming Nexe Records. With nine installments thus far, 010 sees dark techno rhythms and engulfing atmospheres creating a three track EP that stands out from a crowded pack.

"028" takes up side A with a slow build that ends with an explosive assault, while "029" picks things up with a marching industrial grind that leads to perhaps our favorite track, "030", which takes you deep into the night with an anthemic, driving onslaught. From the artist:

Absorbed by a parallel reality we come to the change. Needs never before contemplated derive in new emotions. Mix of excitement, agony, joy and anger.
We digest the trip thinking about the next one. Music as nexus.
