Shops We Endorse - Saint Laurent Flagship, Paris
French Vogue gives us the first look inside the soon to be opened, Heidi Slimane designed, Saint Laurent flagship store. Located in Paris’ Triangle d’Or, Slimane’s work showcases a futuristic art deco vibe and touches of Brutalist geometry, all in Saint Laurent’s signature black and white palette. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Paris.
Everyone knew that the guests at last night’s Met Gala were ‘damned if they do, damned if they don’t’ in regards to dressing according to the night’s punk theme. The ideology of punk is really to be anti-fashion, so it would be decidedly more “punk” not to dress in the punk uniform, right? But, in this instance, not dressing according to the theme would just make you an average celebrity on the red carpet. In any case, there should be no discussion about what punk is and what it’s not. This is just an exhibit in a museum. Punk is history and this is a Costume Gala. Here are a few of our favorites from last night.

The Pink Moon - April 25th, 2013
Has there been SOMETHING about this week you couldn’t quite put your finger on? Well, perhaps it is the coming of the “Pink Moon”, April’s full moon AND lunar eclipse. The Pink Full Moon gets its name from the herb moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which is one of the earliest widespread spring flowers to bloom, according to the Farmer’s Almanac.
Those of us in North America will not get to see a full lunar eclipse, but friends in Europe will be able to marvel at all its glory. As some consolation prize, the partial eclipse seen in North America will be the shallowest in decades and we probably won’t see another one this shallow until around 2034.
While the eclipse may be underwhelming, full moons are always special and April is the only month we get a “Pink Moon.” Might be a good idea to go for a night swim, hike or just be out in the middle of the desert channeling primitive man.
In honor of Earth Day we pulled together a few modern pieces from eco-friendly clothing manufacturers.

One of our favorite bands (or maybe we should say individuals), The Ruins of Beverast, performed live for the first time this past weekend at Roadburn in Tillburg, NL. The solo project of ex-Nagelfar drummer Alexander von Meilenwald, Ruins has been one of the most unique and interesting acts in Black and Doom Metal in recent memory. We were really excited when we heard he was putting a band together for Roadburn and couldn’t wait to see some of the footage.
