The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere Vani Vachi Live in Berlin. Recorded live at Æden Berlin, this is the artist's debut live performance in concert format and was in support of LA-based artist Alice Longyu Gao. Fusing a mix of genres, the Vachi delivered an electrifying performance which was captured by Ellen Trenn. To accompany the video, we were able to speak with the artist about the live show and more (Q&A below)
The Brvtalist: Give us some context about this live show and your experience.
Vani Vachi: This was my first time performing my live set in a concert format, and I had the incredible opportunity to support the LA-based artist Alice Longyu Gao. It was exciting because, since I launched my live project, I’ve mostly been performing at clubs and festivals. Playing in a concert setting felt like stepping into something fresh and uncharted.
My live show is still in its early stages and it’s constantly evolving. Each performance teaches me something new, whether it’s a tweak I want to make or a moment of inspiration I can build on. For this show, most of the set consisted of new, unreleased tracks from an upcoming EP I’ve been working on since summer. It’s quite different from my HÖR session in July, which is currently the only live recording available online. Only two tracks from this new performance have been released so far. (Elevate & Lights, Camera, Dark)
I think I’m really coming to love my setup. It allows me to mix and match track elements on the fly, which keeps things experimental and playful. It’s simple but incredibly versatile—I can control all the layers, effects, and transitions, while also having a great overview of the bigger picture. The only thing I fully pre-program is the vocal parts, so I can focus on delivering a performance. But when I’m on the synths, I love to let loose and improvise a bit.
TB: Tell us about the direction of your live show. How does it differ from your DJ sets?
VV: The whole summer I was worried that my live show and DJ sets were heading in different directions. But recently, I’ve realized they’re just two sides of the same coin—they both represent who Vani Vachi is. My work is about being dynamic and experimental, embracing the unknown, and channeling energy through music. It’s a mix of groove, self-expression, love, mystery, sensuality—like creating a universe of my own.
My DJ sets lean more into subtlety. They’re techno-first, with a focus on minimalism, smooth transitions, and nuanced references. For me, the dancefloor is like a modern-day shamanic ritual. I aim to take people on a trance-like journey, one that feels both grounding and transformative.
In contrast, my live show is much more extroverted and daring. It’s an “in-your-face” multigenre experience, with hyperpop vocals, tempo changes, techno, trance, rave, breakbeat, melodic interludes, and even emotional, lyrical moments. Where DJ sets are about responding to the audience’s energy in real time, a live show is pre-planned—the journey takes place in the studio. The audience isn’t just dancing; they’re tuning in to your story, your world.
I loved performing this concert because of how immersive and attentive the audience was. It felt like they were truly listening, which is so special.
TB: Any final words?
VV: Stay tuned for new live sets and my upcoming releases. Support your local artists, listen to good music, and keep warm this winter!
