One of Manchester's new generation of techno protagonists, Rudosa has quickly emerged as one of the city and country's more formidable artists. Whether as a producer or head of world renown record label Moments In Time, since the release of his career-defining track, Obsolescence (2019), he has continued to elevate his productions and is known for his razor sharp 90's influenced techno and hardgroove cuts. His imprint Moments In Time has released some of the best in the game, with three previous compilations, all making a big splash.
Now he returns with MIT017, which builds upon past success and delivers perhaps the label's strongest outing yet. Momens Vol. 4 features tracks by David Strasser, Tham, BLICZ & GEERSON, Militiā, Claas Herrmann, Amstra & Løinam, Konstrukt Alliance, SAMOH & NYCTONIAN and Rudosa himself, the v/a brings together some of the best names across hard techno and hardgroove in the scene right now. Today we are excited to premiere Rudosa's own "When Will I" and also have an interview where we discuss the release, the hardgroove trend, vinyl and more. (see below)
Moments Vol. 4 is out May 12th on digital. Pick up the release at: https://momentsintime.bandcamp.com/album/moments-vol-4
The Brvtalist: Moments in Time is releasing Moments Vol. 4, the label's fourth v/a. Tell us what you wanted to do with this one and how it might be different from past v/a compilations?
Rudosa: With the Moments Volumes I always use this platform to push music that l have been supporting in my sets over the past 12 months. As time goes on, and the label grows, the V/As are getting bigger, because the volume of quality music from friends and peers has increased. There are nine tracks on this V/A, and I would say our limit is twelve; I feel tracks get lost if the compilation is too big.
TB: Hardgroove seems to be the "hot" or dare I say, "trendy" genre of the moment. What are your thoughts on that and do you think when this happens it's good or bad for the sound?
R: I absolutely love it. So much so, that I'm in the process of starting a sublabel to Moments In Time, where I will release that great grooves that l am playing and producing. Moments In Time will be Hard Techno from my sets and the sub label will have groovier stuff. I've also recently released a couple of Hard Groove Ep’s on Chlar’s Bipolar Disorder Records and We Are The Brave. Lot’s more grooves pending!!!

TB: Your label also has a focus on vinyl releases. Have you seen any improvements in the vinyl production sector from the debilitating wait times of the past few years? Do you think vinyl has a sustainable future?
R: Unfortunately, we had to stop vinyl production for Moments In Time during covid; the lead times were nearly 12 months. For Geerson’s EP it was nearly 8 months later than promised! At one point we had 3 releases paid for but in production. It was unsustainable and impossible to simply break even and when the records finally did arrive there is a loss of hype around it. I have heard the lead times have improved, so I will look into it for the sub label and start to press popular releases on the Moments in Time back catalog.
TB: Tell us about your track on the v/a and about the direction of any recent productions.
R: "When Will I" is quite an old one from my sets. It was originally supposed to be released on Soma, but they chose to release "Consumed" on its own instead, so I decided to hold onto it for another time and this is it. The record was hammered all over the world last summer by Amelie Lens, so we have a nice amount of content to promote it on the label. I also have a record out on EXHALE now, which is a collaboration with Blicz, called "Split Your Love". It's a real closing track and in my opinion has a fresh sound compared to what is being released within the Hard Techno space now. I am hopeful it’s going to be one of the records of the Summer.
TB: What's coming up next for you?
R: I’m really excited for anther Hard Techno EP on Moments in Time. Then I have a Hardgroove EP on the sub label as well. A couple of remixes are coming out and I'm playing for the EXHALE 24-hour party in Berlin on June 10th. There is more very exciting stuff coming up and l am getting married in Ibiza at the end of May. I’m looking forward to a busy summer!
