The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track and a music video from Black Dahlia.
Black Dahlia is an EBM/industrial producer based on Gadigal Land (SYD), Australia. She has been releasing music on labels such as Idlestates Recordings, Insane Industry, Berlin label X-IMG, Filmmaker’s label Body Musick, and most recently featured on Brixx’s vinyl release on Heavy Machinery Records, Conversion Therapy. Creating sinister dance floor dimensions and gothic live shows filled with distorted vocals exploring vintage sexploitation, trauma, and empowerment, Black Dahlia fuses disparate sounds and values with crisp sensibility.
“Semantic Satiation” is Black Dahlia’s first self-released single, which can be described as a deadly EBM and industrial track accompanied by a music video collaboration with video director and photographer, Throne. Paying homage to the tortured soul of Brandon Lee in The Crow, the song and music video explores repetition of trauma, change of character, and relishing in that ultimate rebirth, no matter how deadly it may be.
“The music video makes an ambivalent impression: on one hand, it’s made as a DIY narrative, inspired by the old school horror movies, on the other hand, you see a female protagonist with an eye-catching gothic makeup and “screaming” outfit, transmitting a confident, powerful, even a dominant vibe, that in the combination with loud and manifesting vocals creates some kind of dark and maniac atmosphere. The feeling that you are observing the world through a perspective of a psychotic or a psychedelic trip: intense, colorful, sometimes scary and weird, but with the music accompaniment - hot and groovy.” - The Brvtalist
