The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere the work of two producers to be released on Los Angeles-based Night Gaunt Recordings. This underground cassette label releases experimental electronics that push the boundaries of power electronics, techno, noise and other forms of sonic exploration.
The label began in 2014 by partners Chloe Gilinsky and Ori Ofir (Lower Tar) in Los Angeles. The idea was conceived in New York but came to fruition upon their return to southern California. The label focuses on proliferating esoteric or otherwise lesser known experimental electronic music in LA and elsewhere through physical releases.
Worker/Parasite is a prolific figure in the underground techno scene, currently operating from Northern California but with releases on cassette and vinyl labels from all over the world. Upon hearing his latest release, "100% Vibe Killer", we were especially drawn to his mutated techno structures and echoes of acid and synth-wave. "MPC2" is a great example of the harmonic synthesis of otherwise chaotic elements the producer has become known for.
Shift Worker is the new project from Belgian based techno creator formerly known as 'Derlich' on UK label Singularity Recordings. As Shift Worker, his focus is on modular noise and its mixing with traditional techno rhythms. This self titled EP explores the place where those two meet, marching through noisey industrial spaces with the driving force of techno propelling the compositions. The Brvtalist has selected an excerpt from the release which masterfully puts traditional techno through a filter of experimental electronics to create something incalculable and even mind bending.
We would like to thank Chloe Gilinksy for her assistance with this feature and we look forward to hearing more from this excellent, upstart label. Both "100% Vibe Killer" and "Shift Worker" will be released on November 20th on cassette. via Night Gaunt Recordings.
