The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Lady Tazz. The Canadian-Bangladeshi artist has become known for emancipating dance floors worldwide, whether in Berlin, London or Bogotá. Her own heady and hypnotic productions have appeared on Rekids’ offshoot RSPX, and showcas what she is all about: atmospheric soundscapes with raw textures, erotic moods and mind -melting synths all topped off with ethereal vocals that lodge deep in the soul. She's also known for throwing underground raves in Bangladesh under the Techno Bunker banner and her Mind Medizin label Mind Medizin label also helps her on her mission. It is an ecosystem of self-expression with its own sporadic events around the world where people are free to explore the dark and mysterious, the seductive and the shadowy. Today we are thrilled to present this electrifying mix through her sound and also have a great Q&A with artist which you can read below.
The Brvtalist: How has 2024 started for you? Tell us something you're excited about for this year.
Lady Tazz: Year after year it becomes better. The nicest part of 2024 was getting to meet a lot of the artists who are releasing music on the label this year for the first time. Freedom Festival in Medellin, Colombia, marked the beginning of the year with my close ones. I'm so excited about Mind Medizin this year; every release will be ART.
TB: You're a Banglideshi-Canadian artist. What do you think about the scenes in those places at the moment? It seems globally techno has grown a lot everywhere. Do you think that's ultimately positive or has it become too commercial?
LT: Regarding techno and how it is presented to the outside world, each country is quite unique. The vast growth in techno culture is obviously a good thing . Its something like this I believe : “Real pizza is still served in Naples, Italy, as well as other places throughout the globe. However, true pizza enthusiasts will know where to get the authentic flavor. Techno is just like that.”
TB: You also curate the Mind Medizin label. What types of things do you look for when searching or listening to new artists/music?
LT: I look for someone that excites me and I see potential in.
TB: Tell us about the mix you made for us. What kind of sound are you into right now? :)
LT: I made a super groovy hypnotic mix . I've always been a fan of the tribal sound.
TB: Tell us about some things that you struggle with as a touring artist as well.
LT: Looking after my other businesses. The time differences really take a toll
TB: Share a couple of your favorite places to play right now and why.
LT: Well for me it has to be a mixture of people & pleasure. Bogota, New York and New Delhi hands down are my Favs. Bogota has been kind to me since day one , I threw my first ever Mind Medizin party in Bogota and I will never forget the kind of response it got and I find Colombians to be extremely attractive people! Te amo Bogota.
New York is a vibe , the city itself has a lot going on music wise . I am super into HIP HOP as well & the strip clubs are insane. New Delhi came as a shocker to me. People in Delhi know how to party and most importantly the energy is wild.
TB: What's coming up next?
LT: I'm about to start a new record label & it's not Techno, it's very saucy. Stay tuned
