London duo Double Helix presents hypnotic single 'Doppelgänger’ .

The track comes off as part of the debut compilation from Ransom Note sub label Human Endeavour.

Formed in July 2021, London duo Double Helix have spent the year since their inception carving out a distinctive sound around the UK capital, compounding various techno / rave subcultures and a tenacious punk energy into one unified, uncompromising vision. Their follow-up to debut single ‘Rat Rave’ (Slow Dance Records, January 2022) is further drawing from the well of club-oriented influences.

The hypnotic sophomore release ‘Doppelgänger’ is reminiscent of acid electronica of the 90’s, pitting the iconic sound of the Roland 303 against darker industrial tones, balearic synths and a relentless, pulsating motorik beat.

The accompanying music video is also a striking visual companion to the track. Shot and directed by the band themselves, it evokes a cinematic sensation not unlike a Gaspar Noé nightmare, with violent red strobes and a surrealist detachment. Dancer and performance artist Giorgia Pirozzi contorts and bends her body, creating intoxicating blurs of motion, whilst the bass is pounding like an anxious palpitation.

Human Endeavour is the newest addition to Ransom Note Records’ family of sub-labels. Curated and run by Ransom Note Editor, and one half of DJ duo Kiara Scuro, Rosie Ama Cain, the label will be a “space for artists who are exploring the dark, deep and hypnotic corners of the musical spectrum.” For the inaugural release, six artists have come together for ‘Trains Of Thought’: a Various Artists EP that gives a window into some sounds, styles and names that you’ll be hearing on the label in the future. Double Helix comprises Patrick Smith (Synths, Programming, Vocals), Kim Engelhardt (Bass Guitar), joined by a session drummer for live shows. ‘Doppelgänger’ is out on June 16th via Human Endeavour and was recorded at Arcus Sounds Studio, self-produced by Double Helix, mixed and mastered by Alastair Batchelor."

PREMIERE: Duncan Macdonald - Consciousness (LowEnd Berlin 001) + EP Review

The Brvtalist is proud to premiere a new track from Duncan Macdonald. “Consciousness” comes off the new collab EP between Macdonald and JohannesK titled, Existense Is Absurd, which also marks the first release on Berlin’s LowEnd imprint. With a focus on hypnotic but driving techno, the release features two tracks each from the label founders. Respectively the 2 artists have released on labels such as Key Vinyl, Hayes, ARTS, Krill and more and have built a reputation for powerful, complex productions.

For their first collab EP, Existense Is Absurd, we get two originals from each artist - taking us on an odyssey though driving, hypnotic and trippy techno. Tracks that are ready for the dance floor and to get lost in a meditative session. Today we premiere, “Consciousness”, one of Macdonald’s tracks which kicks off the EP perfectly with its driving, relentless energy and pulsating charges. Track 2, “Cyclopes” is also from Macdonald and he keeps the same energy but switches gears to a blackened, haunting atmosphere, seething with hard hitting emotion.

That leaves JohannesK on the final two tracks. His first is, “Applied Force” which is a crushing, tension builder which slowly but surely encapsulates the listener into its cinematic environment. And finally the artist closes out the EP with Time, the perfect closer which is a mesmerising piece which carries us off into an unknown oblivion.

Existense Is Absurd showcases Macdonald’s and JohannesK’s pristine productions while also launching us into a hypnotic world of absurdity, reality and something that falls in between. It’s a refreshing release with a dance floor focus mixed with a statement that resonates loudly in the present age.

The EP is out on June 3rd on 12” vinyl with download code + poster. Get yours now at: https://lnk.to/LOWEND001

PREMIERE: NEVER - MEGXN (VEYL)

The Brvtalist is pleased to present a new track from NEVER. "MEGXN" comes off the project's debut release, JXDY, which is out soon on the always excellent VEYL. While the project is new, the artist, Stefano Santi, is a multi-instrumentalist and electronic music producer who has been active since the early 2000’s. After several years of working as an audio engineer and touring the globe with bands, he has always had a parallel life as a producer with a club affinity. NEVER began in his own SPVN studio during the pandemic amidst the isolation of lockdown. His inspiration reborn after abandoning all boundaries and giving little care to traditional songwriting structures.

The result is a striking mix of post-punk, shoe gaze and more all with electronic DNA. Today we premiere this great work, "MEGXN".

The release is out March 18th on cassette and digital. Get yours at: lnk.to/VEYL033

Lucindo/Vidness - Entanglement | Enigma AV Podcast - Episode 04

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere Episode 04 of the Enigma AV Pocast. Dedicated to the cosmic consciousness, freely expressing itself in countless ways in space-time through quantum entanglement. The last episode of this mini AV series curated by Enigma collective intermingles the acid patterns and noisy, emotional soundscapes created by Lucindo with Vidness' multilayered visual universe. The result is proof that in a universe made out of energy, everything is entangled; everything is one.

About the artists

Lucindo sets are as powerful, mental and acidic as his own productions, characterized by distorted industrial rhythms. With this mix, he definitely shows all his dexterity in swinging between IDM, techno and electro sonorities, bringing the listeners into a meditative state even when hitting with harsh sounds.

Vidness live visuals revolve around running video signals in circles through everything from old analogue hardware to contemporary 3D graphics engines. Multiple monochromatic, high-contrast layers feed the same loop and add to or subtract from each other to form complex imagery. Everything happens in real-time, there are no edits, no rehearsals, no second chances, only one take in Vidness’ performance.
