The Brvtalist Premieres: Kujo - Sense Report (Rhadâb)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Kujo. “Sense Report” comes off the forthcoming v/a release, Al-Ibtihal. out this month on Moroccan imprint Rhadâb. Derived from the Arabic word, Ibtihal, meaning a hard state to reach - a double edged sabre, Al-Ibtihal is an attempt to transcribe this feeling into the physical world through both visual and sonic mediums. The hour long album engulfs the two opposed sides of the same coin, depicted by the A-side and B-side of the tape. The selected artwork captured by the talented Hind Moumou and gracefully edited by Hagen Ebejer portrays as a reminder that the Hand is a strong symbol of protection, most notably in the North-African and Arab culture.

The A-side is a collection of electronic rituals where endless evolving drones meet ambient distorded soundscapes. The B-side consists of martial pieces dedicated to War deities, with the introduction of tribal drums and beats. Today we premiere “Sense Report”, a track from the B-side which is a powerful and haunting experimental work from Kujo.

The album is out on September 21st on cassette and digital. You can pick up the digital on Bandcamp and the tape HERE.

E.L.I.A.S. - A Simple Disorder (Unconfined)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from E.L.I.A.S. “A Simple Disorder” comes off the big new v/a compilation, Quantum Entanglement, which also helps launch Glasgow’s Unconfined imprint. Handing over full creative control to their artists, Unconfined are setting out on an exploration of infinite sonic possibilities across the electronic spectrum. Born in Glasgow, but spreading its roots across the globe - from Turin to Taiwan. Founder and label head, Charl Fouche, believes the label’s criteria enables them to release a diverse selection of tracks: “There are so many varieties of techno. At the end of the day it is noises being morphed to sound a certain way. It all comes down to the individual listener and what sounds their ears choose to hear”.

A lot of thought and effort is put into making sure all the artists and tracks are somewhat complementing each other. Curating a label has been a goal of mine for years. Now I am finally able to create a movement which possesses infinite potential. Ultimately we want to help provide our artists - from the UK to South East Asia - with the ability to be heard worldwide.

This is the first of two premieres we will present this week and we start with this great, hard hitting yet hypnotic piece from E.L.I.A.S. which gives a taste of the compilations diverse set of sounds. Releasing September 18th, you can pre-order the release now on Bandcamp and other outlets HERE.

Gateway X - Drain (MarcoTerra Records) *Video Premiere*

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new video from Gateway X. “Drain” comes off the new release, Sun Never Sets, out this month on Italy’s MarcoTerra Records. Gateway X is a duo merging industrial tribalism, ambient and experimental soundscapes, with roots in hardcore and punk. Prior to their first incarnations as TG Syndrome and TGS, they had separately been part of the emerging noise and London underground techno scene of the 90's and active till this day. With Sun Never Sets, we see them back in crushing form with five tracks exploring darker areas of the human psych, while often dissonant. Made of industrial/post textures, the music also falls into an atmosphere forged with metallic drones and noise often surreal, a thrilling combination, oppressiveness sensations and experiences that are so intense and immersive.

This is a great release to pick up on digital format and you can get yours on Bandcamp.

Lunchmeat Festival 2020

The Brvtalist is thrilled to be returning to Prague for Lunchmeat Festival 2020. After experiencing last year’s 10th Anniversary edition first hand, it quickly became one of my favorite festivals and is one of the best at finding the intersection of music, art, technology and more. Taking place from September 28th - October 3rd, this year is obviously like no other in recent history and the festival has delivered another stellar lineup while also implementing guidelines for the pandemic era in an effort to keep all guests safe. The festival recently made the second line up announcement (included below) and here’s what they had to say:

"We always consider Lunchmeat to act as a reaction to the club "schism" between the underground scene and dance music mainstream. By inviting both Sophie and Helena Hauff, we want to show that these worlds can co-exist and cooperate,“ says Jakub Pešek, the director of the festival. "Sophie played in our club NEONE in 2013 and 2014, at the very beginning of her career, that is why we feel a strong connection to her and her music. She is proof of how far a person can go, with beginnings rooted in niche music genres; making unique, even, extreme music“ says Pešek.

Sophie is now considered as one of the club music's biggest stars and she works with artists such as Charli XCX or Madonna. Part of the festival is influenced by the subject of dark and difficult times. Black Sunday is an AV project by 404.zero. They work with these themes in a similar vein to Helena Hauff’s  dark techno performances. The duo´s apocalyptic dark ambient is accompanied by similarly grainy visuals. One of the big newcomers of 2019 – noise-techno duo Tittingur will play in collaboration with light designerbdy_. Producer Nina Pixel and visual artist Adrián Kriška in ‘AncestralArcheology AV live’ examine the connection of Slovak folklore and lived experience of the technology-influenced life of the early 21st century. Temple ‘Timbre Embers AV live’ mixes visuals of DevKid and music inspired by the magnificence, grandeur, and density of organ music made by Stroon.

The visitors of this year´s Lunchmeat Festival will also enjoy unique intermedia performances. Sam Rolfes will invite the audience in to the mutated visuals of his virtual reality 360°AV experience. In his acclaimed project ‘Corpus Nil’ asks Marco Donnarumma questions of the distinction between humanity and machinery.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Unhuman + Petra Flurr. “Distraction = Destruction” comes off the debut full length album, Cause of Chaos (She Lost Kontrol) by the collaboration between the Berlin based producer Unhuman and the performer - activist Petra Flurr. Marcus L - Kimchi Slap (ft. Kill.gone) (Intrepid Skin)

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Marcus L. The Seoul-based artist and resident of the city’s Faust club lands on SPFDJ’s Intrepid Skin imprint with Kimchi Slap, a wild four track EP that hits hard enough to be felt across the globe. After meeting each other in Seoul in 2018 the two went on to share bills in different continents and now Marcus is the latest addition to an already stellar lineup of releases on Intrepid Skin. Today we premiere the title track which is an outrageous dance floor destroyer about my favorite fermented cabbage dish which features vocals from rapper Kill.gone. The release contains two other originals plus a massive remix from Hadone.
