The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere Episode 03 of the Engima A/V podcast series. “The History of Darkness” is an Audiovisual installation that takes you on a trip into a universe of astronomical images and sounds. The visual work is mainly based on old photographs, drawings and diagrams of the cosmos taken from old astronomy books. The work highlights the beauty and simplicity of low-fidelity material by using images created without the technological tools available nowadays. Visual representations of the universe have the power to show stages of our evolving self-awareness as a species. Starting from this idea, the artists talk you through different chapters about the never-ending impulse to understand ourselves and the universe that surrounds us.
Recent Arts is a duo conformed by visual artist Valentina Berthelon and musician Tobias Freund. Together they build live performances using video projections and experimental sound –charged with symbols, stories and poetry– thus generating sound environments that invite to enjoy the music while deeply connecting with our perceptions of the world and our sense of realities within it. The soundscapes are not based on concrete musical structures but rather on experimenting and improvising.
