The Brvtalist is proud to premiere four new remixes from the latest EP by French dark wave project Hørd. Founded in 2013 by musician and video-artist Sebastien Carl in Bordeaux, Hørd masterfully combines elements of synth wave and complex melancholia in a package that invokes dark, sinister environments and lustful rhythms.
Out on October 15th (7" vinyl + digital format) on French labels Stellar Kinematics, Ol' Dirty Dancin and Anywave, EP #2 contains the stellar tracks "Speak" and "Let Them Burn". The four remixes are bonus tracks by excellent producers Black Bug, Hante, AVGVST and Volcan. Each remix brings a distinct touch that ranges from Black Bug's ominous anthem to Hante's synth-driven dance floor banger, Volcan's electro-tinged offering and AVGVST's slow burning ritual. We love the original material and these versions only add to the stellar release. We asked Hørd for some comments on the EP and he graciously responded with these insightful remarks:
This release is very important for me because it's my first vinyl release, and also the first time I have collaborated with these labels, which were very implied in all the levels of the record.
These tracks reflect both aspects of my music - one could be described as "very cold pop", with lyrics, melody, chorus etc. And the other one, instrumental, more narrative, and more focused on sounds.
About the remixes: I am very proud to have such great remixers for my EP, I know all of them personally and they are all involved in personal and solo projects as well, which makes sense to me. I also have particular affinities with their projects and their music. It's been really interesting to communicate with each other, about their remixes, and my original tracks, as we did for the EP #2.
