The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix by Denise Rabe. The German artist and longtime DJ has been making waves in Europe and last year in America with her razor sharp techno sounds. In addition, her own productions have continued to advance since debuting in 2015 and her label, Rabe, launched last year. New Brvtalism No. 157 puts the artist’s sound in full focus and takes us on an incredible trip.
Rabe also has a new track on a great upcoming comp on Voxnox called Serpent Series Vol. 1 (out 28/10) and we were able to ask her a few questions about her music, the mix and more. Read the Q&A below.
The Brvtalist: Now that summer is over and we are heading in to the new season, what are some things you are looking forward to most about the upcoming Fall/Winter?
Denise Rabe: I was born in Fall, I guess thats why it’s my favorite season. I like the smell and how everything starts to change outside. It also means it’s the time to be in the studio much more because you don’t feel the need to be outside when its cold and rainy. The mood I have is different and I guess the sound changes a bit a well. More cloudy and eerie. Always a winner of every new season is the seasonal food! I love food.
TB: Talk about the development of your Rabe imprint and what is your vision for the label?
DR: Step by step I am starting to get people with remixes on board. I am also planing on collaborations - but here I won’t tell you much more - I prefer to see what will happen because you never know. My vision is leaving enough space for opportunities you didn’t expect. Room for the unknown. I like to plan but on the other hand have the chance to be spontaneous.
TB: Tell us about your New Brvtalism mix. What was your approach and some inspirations.
DR: All the new promos I received gave me the inspiration and let me build my little story. Its always like a puzzle. Playing in the club is more fluent and visceral. A podcast needs to have everything I wanna say in 1h. Not always an easy task. Of course I used this mix to show you two new tracks from "rabe003“ which came out on the 21st of September. One of my tracks and the Nur Jaber remix as the closer.
TB: You also have a new track out on the new Voxnox comp. Tell us about the track and how this came about.
DR: I can’t remember so well when I worked on that track sounds like in Fall or Winter perhaps. Fabio the label owner contacted me via Facebook and it sounded like a good plan. So I was up for it! Thanks Fabio again!
TB: Tells us what's coming up next.
DR: On Rabe004 we can expect four incredible remixes from Kwarz, Insolate, Sstrom and Belief Defect , out at the beginning of next year. For me, I am in the middle of a few things - no more details here. But you can expect some new stuff in the future so keep your eyes and ears open!
