VSSL & States Of Being join forces to present:
PURE GROUND (DJ Set)
STATES OF BEING Residents
REMY MARC (VSSL)
+ + + + + + + +
It was just last week that VSSL and States of Being realized we'd booked two uncannily fearless, genre-blind selectors, Ancient Methods and Lena Willikens, for separate parties on the same night. After a few phone calls, we all realized it would be better for the DJs, for the audience and for everyone's evening to combine forces. In the larger sphere, questing for common ground seems so rare. One of the best things about our little corner of the world is that it often feels like we're a collective working towards a common goal. Hopefully, this sort of solidarity will transcend to the dance floor, to the warehouse on the eight. Thanks for rolling with the punches w/ us.
Michael Wollenhaupt started up AM nearly ten years ago with a series of blistering industrial/EBM-flavored techno 12-inches that immediately established the project (then a duo), as one pushing techno forwards. Since these initial transmissions, he's opened things up considerably, likely to drop post-punk and industrial obscurities into his sets alongside more martial 4/4 sounds. His production has followed suit. Last year's "Turn Ice Realities Into Fire Dreams" stretches the Industrial dance template into something emotional and maybe even a bit funky.

LENA WILLIKENS -
Lena cut her teeth at Düsseldorf's Salon Des Amateurs, a club RA's Aaron Coultate referred to as "the post-Kraut Hacienda." In her time at the tiny club, nestled in the corner of a sprawling art museum, she came up with a truly wild style of DJing, mixing up "obscure proto-techno, jacking spirits, industrial boogie, synthesized disco, raw house and other outernational rhythms." After a mix for RA which saw her playing everything from Tolouse Low Trax to Streetwalker to Mariah and the awesome Phantom Delia six-tracker for Matias Aguayo's Cómeme, the world started to take notice. Now Willikens is a regular at festivals like Dekmantel and Nachtdigital. In addition, her semi-regular Sentimental Flashback radio show sees her exploring zones far from the club, the western hemisphere or seemingly, the earth's atmosphere. Listen for yourself.

Both Michael and Lena will enjoy lengthy sets. Chondritic Sound mainstays Pure Ground will join us for a rare DJ set with the SOB residents and Remy Marc on support.
Unique, secure venue, going late, you know the deal. Thanks as always for the support ♥.
